亚也初中时突然查出患有小脑萎缩症，身体无法正常的保持平衡，走起路来歪歪扭扭的，而且这种病无法痊愈，最终还会全身瘫痪且无法言语。这一突变对一个才十五岁的女孩来说实在是太残酷了。
在升入高中前的暑假一直在医院进行康复训练，医生对要进入高中学习的亚也说：
和其它人的差异性可能会让你感到痛苦
但人总要怀抱着一两个痛苦生活下去
也就是从这时候开始，亚也养成了记日记的习惯。生活的不如意并没有让亚也悲观沮丧甚至自暴自弃，反而锻炼出她坚强的性格以及对“生”的强烈渴望。在病情恶化的那段时日，她在日记中写道：
直到我能这样微笑着说话为止,我至少需要一升的眼泪
亚也的日记：
妈妈，在我内心之中，有一个一直相信我的妈妈存在。今后也请你多多关照了，总是惹你担心，对不起了。
不要再说想要回到那一天，我要认同现在的自己活下去。
虽然也会被无心的目光所刺伤，然而也明白了同样有温柔的目光。所以我绝对不会逃避，这样的话，一定有一天……
跌倒又有什么关系，还可以再站起来。跌倒后可以顺便仰望一下天空，蓝蓝的天啊，今天也在无限延伸朝着我微笑
我还活着。
离结业还有4天，大家似乎在为我折起一只只纸鹤。
我要把他们努力折纸的模样，深深地印在脑海中。即使分别，也永远不会忘记。
可是，我更愿意听到他们说：亚也，别走。
人不该活在过去，只要做现在力所能及的事情就好了。
现实太残酷，太严峻，我似乎没有梦想的权力。
想起未来，泪水又不禁涌出来。
不要着急，不要贪心，不要放弃。
谁都是一步一步走出来的。
母親致過世的亚也：
离开你已经有一年了。亚也，还在走着吗？可以吃东西吗？可以大声笑，放声说话吗？即便妈妈不在身边，也依然坚持着吗？妈妈只是一直在无比担心这些。"为什么病魔会选择上我，因为什么而活着？"你是这样说的，是吧？你的人生吃苦受累流泪到底是为了什么？妈妈依然在考虑着，却还没有寻求到答案。可是亚也，可是呢亚也，因为你，越来越多的人开始考虑自己的人生，平凡的日子中也要发掘出快乐和温暖，一时到周围的人的体贴对待，也发现了同样病症的人并不止自己。你无尽的泪水和在其中刻出的那些话语，已经传递到很多人的心理了哦。亚也，你在那里已不必再哭泣了吧。妈妈还想再看一次满脸微笑的你。
